8:00 AM: Breakfast on Main Street

Local Tip: Parking is usually easy before 10 a.m., and you’ll get some great photos of downtown without lots of people in the background. There is FREE parking off the main street just off Marys Street. (2min walk to downtown).

Local Tip: On busy summer weekends, Lake on the Mountain can be very busy so a better time would be through the week and earlier in the morning.

5:30 PM: Patio Drinks

7:00 PM: Dinner
Choose a local restaurant featuring County wines and seasonal menus in downtown Picton.

- Coach’s Pub & Grill – Large menu with steaks, wings, burgers, and comfort food.
- 555 Brewing Co. – Wood-fired pizzas, house-brewed craft beer, and a lively atmosphere.
- Bocado Restaurant – Spanish-inspired tapas and share plates. (Great but pricey)
- The Beau Bistro – Comfort foods and reasonable prices.

One mistake visitors make is trying to squeeze too much into one day. Picton is best enjoyed at a relaxed pace.
8:30 PM: Sunset and an Evening Stroll
Finish your day with a walk along the waterfront in Picton Harbor or through downtown Picton with an ice cream.
The streets are quieter, the harbour is peaceful, and you’ll get a glimpse of why so many visitors dream of moving here after their first visit.
The main street looks different in the summer at sunset, and many people take tons of pictures; I may even be in a few. LOL
Local’s Final Verdict
If I only had one day in Picton, I’d spend it doing exactly this: enjoying breakfast downtown, exploring the harbour, visiting Gillingham Brewing Outpost, relaxing at Sandbanks or Lake on the Mountain, and ending the day with a great meal and a sunset walk.
It’s not the busiest itinerary. It’s simply the one that feels most like Prince Edward County.
