Why Visit Prince Edward County in The Fall
Summer is always the busiest time of year in the county. There is still much tourism in the fall. Why?
Fall offers a magnificent experience in Prince Edward County, with cool breezes, brilliant foliage, and an abundance of activities.
From leaf-crunching hikes to boat rides along the shoreline you’ll be spoiled for choices when exploring this beautiful island!
Why Visit in Autumn?
- Less Tourism in the Fall. Not very busy during the weekdays.

Less tourism as a result of children going back to school makes it easy to enjoy top tourist destinations without the crowds.
Early fall is the time of year to visit wineries and breweries while many still offer wood-fired pizza, outdoor patios, and live music.
That being said later into September and then into October many places in the county limit services and you may only be able to find certain items like wood fire pizza on the weekends only.
The weekdays are awesome in the Fall and you will often find that many of the places you visit are empty…well at least limited in the number of people.
I love the warm fall days and we take advantage of the perfect temperate weather and all the local festive spirit.
There’s so much to explore with lots of fun fall activities to discover both indoors at restaurants or outdoor patios and apple picking.
Take the kids to Campbell’s Orchard as there is always something going on with seasonal goods for purchase.
We take walks through the Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area to admire the foliage, the change of colors is worth it.
We also explore the beautiful sunflowers at the Sunflower Fields Ice Cream Shoppe just outside of town. They sell Kawartha ice cream…it’s the best!
While you’re out exploring stop and pick out a pumpkin to carve there are a few places around the county to buy one…you can’t miss them.
What’s better than having one of Parsons Beers while sitting around one of their crackling fire pits enjoying the fall surroundings?
As the weather starts getting colder and you just want to hunker down…..Spend an Evening at any one of our great restaurants and enjoy locally made Wine, Beer, or Cider and start planning some Awesome Winter activities………
