There’s nothing quite like a great county craft cider made with fresh local farm apples.

I personally find it refreshing to the taste buds, especially on a hot summer day when you’re exploring the picturesque region of Prince Edward County, Ontario.

We stopped by Crimson Cider Company, a charming cider house located in the heart of the County just outside Picton.

As someone who loves trying out new drinks and exploring different flavors, I was excited to try some of the unique handcrafted seasonal offerings from Crimson Cider.

Although we have experienced many picturesque vineyards, we wanted to start visiting all the cideries in the county too.

And let me tell you, we haven’t been disappointed yet!

From the moment we started walking towards the heritage stone building following the arrows we knew this was going to be different.

Introducing Crimson Cider Company in Picton

Crimson Cider Company is a family-owned business that prides itself on producing high-quality, small-batch unique handcrafted seasonal offerings.

They are committed to creating ciders that are not only delicious but also reflect the unique terroir of Prince Edward County.

Signature Cider Flavours

When it comes to selection, there is something for everyone at Crimson Cider Company!

Whether you are a fan of dry or sweet ciders, they have an array of flavors ranging from tart cranberry to creamy caramel.

• Crimson Crisp – Dry Cider – The flagship cider that is light and not too sweet.
• Rosé Cider – Off-Dry Cider – This is made with Prince Edward County Marquette grapes and has light notes of cranberry.
• Mint to be – Cucumber Mint – My favorite craft cider from Crimson. Try it you’ll see why.
• Ginspired Cider – This is a new craft cider. Handcrafted dry cider and classic gin botanicals.
• Mull It Over – Off-Dry Cider – Because this one had notes of cinnamon and cloves we heat it up through the winter. A great Christmas drink.
• Cranberry Sage – Off-Dry Cider – This has notes of cranberry and herbaceous sage that some people may find tasty.
• Hey Sugar – Off-Dry Cider –
• Grape Slushy Mix – A summertime favorite we heard so much about. It’s amazing. We took home two slushy kits.

They do offer flights and the proceeds are 100% donated to local charities.

Tasting Experience at Crimson Cider Company

After hearing the story of each cider we were ready to Crimson Cider Company was nothing short of exceptional.

As soon as I walked into the tasting room, we were greeted by the owner Katie who explained the cider in detail.

We were immediately struck by the range of flavors and including some new gin-infused cider.

aromas on offer, each one more enticing than the last.

The first cider I tried was the classic Crimson Apple Cider, a crisp and refreshing drink that was the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness.

Next up was the Mint to be Cider. Our favorite of all their ciders. Katie suggested adding some gin and she was right. We took home two bottles and tried them with gin. Crazy delicious.

This cider had a light hint of cucumber and if you add in some gin there’s a unique kick to it that was both refreshing and warming, making it the perfect drink for a chilly day.

Finally, we sampled the Crimson Rosé Cider, which was a beautiful pink color and had a subtle sweetness that was perfectly balanced by the crisp acidity of the apples.

The Service

The real icing on the cake at Crimson Cider Company, however, was their amazing customer service.

Not only did they answer all the questions we had about their signature cider flavours but also gave us helpful suggestions when selecting our flight order.

Throughout our entire visit, it was fun and friendly and Katie went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable and having a good time.

It really made our experience even more enjoyable!
