Let’s Start with the North Marysburgh route heading out on county road 7.
North Marysburgh is a township in Prince Edward County, Ontario. It is located along the North shore of Lake Ontario, and its administrative center is the town of Picton.
The township’s economy is based on agriculture and tourism. The area’s mild climate and fertile soils make it ideal for growing grapes, and the county is home to over 41 wineries.

Tour Around North Marysburgh
Stop by Lake on the Mountain
Lake on The Mountain Provincial Park is a small free-entry park located 15 min from downtown Picton, Ontario.
The park is home to a small lake that is said to be bottomless. Legend has it that the Lake was formed when a chunk of ice fell from the sky during the last ice age.
Today, the Lake is a popular spot for fishing, swimming, and picnicking. The park also has an observation deck where visitors can admire the Lake and the surrounding countryside.
The view is spectacular and you can enjoy lunch or dinner at the Lake on the mountain Inn while you there.
Take a Ride on The Glenora Ferry
Glenora Ferry is a FREE provincial ferry service. It connects highway 33 from Adolphustown Dock with Prince Edward County.
The ferry operates year-round and provides a link between Picton and Kingston.
Both residents and tourists looking for things to do in Prince Edward County ride the ferry for a cool experience.
The Glenora Ferry has a long history in the county. Dating back to the early days of European settlement in Canada.
In the 1800s, the ferry was used to transport goods and passengers between Glenora and Picton.
It played an important role in the development of both communities. Today, the Glenora Ferry continues to be an important part of life in Picton and Glenora.
Lake on the Mountain Brewing Company
Lake on the Mountain Brewing Company produces a variety of craft beers, including IPAs, blondes, and stouts.
In addition to its regular craft beer selection, Lake on the Mountain Brewing Company often releases limited-edition beers throughout the year.
The brewery’s taproom is open to the public for tastings and tours.
You can purchase a flight and sit out back where there are picnic tables and a fire pit.
You can purchase their products online and at select retailers in Ontario.
Drive Through Cressey
Cressey is just a short 20min drive from Picton with some great scenery. In addition, Cressey is the farthest reach of North Marysburgh and is home to Prinyers cover.
There is a growing community and more activity to explore around the Harbour.
It is an ideal location for a summer getaway away from heavy traffic and busy tourism.

The County Cider Company
One of the most popular stops for tourists and locals. The County Cider Co. produces small-batch artisan ciders using traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients.
The cidery is committed to using only the finest apples, and all of its ciders are made with 100% Ontario-grown fruit.
This cidery currently offers four different styles of cider: dry, semi-sweet, sweet, and fruit-forward.
In addition to its flagship ciders, the County Cider Co. also produces seasonal specialties and limited edition ciders.
The cidery is open for tours and tastings, and their ciders are available for purchase online and at select retailers in Ontario.

Visit Waupoos is a Must
There is a lot to see and do here. Many more wineries, art galleries, and cideries are to check out so I can’t list just one thing.
Waupoos is a small community located about 15 min from Picton. This area is home to a number of small businesses and farms.
Waupoos is popular with tourists and offers a variety of activities such as fishing, camping, wine tasting, bicycling, hiking, art, food, and canoeing. Phew…that’s a lot to say!
The island also has a number of historical sites, including the Waupoos Cemetery which is the final resting place for many of the island’s early settlers.
Waupoos is a beautiful community with a rich history and is well worth a visit.
Rutherford-Stevens Lookout
This is a small lookout point that gives a great view of Waupoos, South bay, Lake Ontario, and Waupoos Island.
There is a small parking area that fits about 4 vehicles. The lookout is perched 200 feet above lake Ontario.
Rutherford-Stevens Lookout is a small but popular Conservation area for picnics.
The area was named for Rutherford and Stevens, two local boys who tragically lost their lives in a hiking accident in the early 1900s.
Today, Rutherford-Stevens Lookout is a popular destination for cyclers, hikers, and nature lovers.
The area features well-marked trails, stunning views of the surrounding countryside, and a variety of plant and animal life.

Tour South Marysburgh
Next, Let’s explore the South Marysburgh route heading out on County Road #13.
South Marysburgh is also known as the South Shore in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

There is lots of history here as the municipality is named after Mary Barker, wife of Sir John Colborne, Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada from 1828 to 1836.

Black River Cheese Factory
Black River Cheese Factory is a family-owned business that has been making cheese in Picton, Ontario for over 100 years.
The factory was sold and no longer makes cheese but they still sell many types along with local goods from the area.
The company’s award-winning cheddar was made using traditional methods and only the finest ingredients.
You can still buy a variety of cheeses, including gouda, Swiss, and provolone. In addition to cheese, Black Creek Cheese Factory also sells a range of other products, such as honey, jams, and chutneys.

Mariners Park Museum
Mariners Park Museum is a maritime museum located in the South Bay area of Picton, Ontario.
The museum is dedicated to the history of the maritime industry and features exhibits on the Great Lakes, shipwrecks, lighthouses, and more.
Mariners Park Museum is also home to a research library and archives.
The library contains books, maps, and other resources on maritime history, while the archives house documents, photographs, and other materials related to the maritime industry.

Exultet Estates – Using only 100% county grapes! The Exultet name comes from the Latin word for praise. The wines are made in small batches using traditional methods.
One of many unique prince Edward County Wineries because they use their own grapes.
Lighthall Vineyards – The Lighthall family has been farming the land for generations, and they planted their first vines in 2001.
Since then, they have produced award-winning wines that reflect the terroir of their estate. Lighthall Vineyards is best known for its Riesling and Chardonnay, but they also produce excellent red wines made from Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc.

Definitely Stop By Point Petre
Point Petre is a wildlife conservation area located in Prince Edward County, Ontario.
The area is home to a variety of plant and animal life, as well as a number of hiking and ATV trails.
If you want to enjoy a beautiful sunset this is one of the best places in the area to see the sunset over Lake Ontario.
The Point Petre Conservation Area is open year-round and offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy.
In addition to hiking and picnicking, the Point Petre Wildlife Conservation Area also offers opportunities for birdwatching, fishing, swimming, and canoeing.
If you plan on swimming be careful of the undertow when the waves are high.
Point Petre Lighthouse
While you are in the Point Petre area check out the lighthouse.
The area is notable for its famous lighthouse, which was built in 1833 and would have been one of the oldest lighthouses on Lake Ontario.
The truth is the original lighthouse was blown and replaced in the ’60s with the lighthouse that stands there today.
The lighthouse is located on a bluff overlooking Point Petre, which is a narrow strip of land that extends into Lake Ontario.
It is also a popular tourist destination, as it offers stunning views of Lake Ontario and the surrounding countryside.
It’s worth checking out…oh and you may see some deer out that way too!

Visit The Sandbanks Provincial Park
Sandbanks Provincial Park is a “Number One” tourist destination in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

Millennium Lookout
A great way to all of Picton! There is some history of all the townships in Prince Edward County. Millennium Lookout is a scenic spot worth checking out.
The lookout provides stunning views of the Picton Harbor and Bay of Quinte and the surrounding countryside.
This lookout is a popular spot for photography, picnicking, and enjoying the sunset.
Many people come here because it is also a great place to watch the changing seasons.
Lots of parking here so it’s accessible by car or on foot. It’s also open year-round and wheelchair-accessible.

Macaulay Heritage Park
Macaulay Heritage Park is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike in Picton.

Wellington On the Lake Course
This is one of the two golf courses in Prince Edward County. The other is the Picton Golf Club located on Highway 49 just outside Picton town limits.
If you staying in Wellington then you can check out the Wellington On the Lake Golf Course. It’s an 18-hole championship golf course that will keep you on your toes.
The course was designed by Canadian golf course architect Tom McBroom and opened in 1998.
It has been rated as one of the top 100 courses in Canada by Golf Digest magazine.
