The Long Dog Winery in Prince Edward County
Location: 104 Brewers Road, Milford, ON
Phone: (613) 476-8807
I recently visited Long Dog Winery, for the third time this year is off the beaten path but worth visiting.
We live here in Prince Edward County and visit many of the wineries including Long Dog Winery’s tasting room on a regular basis.
I’m finding that because we’re located just a few hours away from Toronto, Prince Edward County is fast becoming one of Ontario’s most famous wine destinations.
See my post about the exciting stops on your way from Toronto.
This is because of the unique microclimate perfect for grape growing, Prince Edward County is home to some of the best wineries in the province in my opinion.
About Long Dog Winery Estate Vineyard
The winery was established in 1999 by James Lahti and his wife, Victoria.
The name “Long Dog” was inspired by the couple’s beloved dachshunds, who used to accompany them on their vineyard walks.
Today, Long Dog Winery is known for its exceptional wines, cool vibes, and friendly staff.
Long Dog Vineyard & Winery Wine Selection
1. 2016 Bella Chardonnay Riserva
This versatile white wine is perfect for any occasion. Made with 100% estate-grown grapes, and has aromas of green apple and citrus. It pairs well with poultry, seafood, and creamy pasta dishes.
2. 2017 Francesca Aura – Pinot Gris Rosé
This refreshing wine is perfect for summertime sipping. Made with their own grapes, and has aromas of grapefruit summer berries, and watermelon. It pairs well with salads, grilled vegetables, and fresh seafood dishes.
3. 2018 Top Dog Pinot Noir
This light-bodied red wine is perfect for those who enjoy fruity wine. This Pinot Noir is made with their own estate-grown grapes and has aromas of cherry and strawberry. It pairs well with poultry, pork, and mushroom dishes.
4. 2018 Otto Run Free – Pinot Noir
More of a medium-bodied red wine is perfect for those who enjoy smooth wine. Made with 100% estate-grown grapes and has aromas of blackberry and plum. It pairs well with red meat, pasta with red sauce, and sharp cheeses.
5. Inflorescence Gamay Noir Sparkling
I’d never tasted anything like this before. The lightest style of red wine but sparkling and it is full of strawberry, tutti fruity cherry, and lower tannin. I’d suggest pairing it with dishes that are light yet flavorful, like a fresh citrus salad or mushroom risotto topped with grated Parmesan cheese.

The Woof-Wine club is the easiest way to stay connected and in the loop! It’s basically a newsletter with exciting specials and discounts, as well as juicy news they have to share.
They will email you regularly enough so you can stay up to date on the latest Woof-Wine offerings, but it won’t bog down your inbox!
This is how we mew they had a discount on their Pinot Noir and we ran out and picked up two bottles.
