The Accommodations
The first thing to know is that there are two properties.
The Drake Hotel – This is the main building where you will check-in, and eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Drake Motor Inn – is a short distance away that will take you less than 5 minutes to drive to.
The rooms at The Drake Motor Inn looked exquisite online, and ours was no different. We stayed in the “Owners Suite” that has a Lakeview, king-sized room with a private balcony.
The room offered a stunning view of the lake, which was fascinating. We found it to be spacious, and clean, with all the necessary amenities.
I called the front desk staff and asked for a bottle of wine which they brought right up. So I can say first hand that special requests are a regular service you can expect.
Arrival and Check-in
Upon arrival, I was impressed by the beautiful building and its surroundings. The hotel’s modern and elegant design is impressive for sure.
The check-in process was quick, and the staff was friendly, courteous, and very accommodating.
The staff showed us to our room, which was impeccably designed and featured luxurious amenities such as high-end linens, plush towels, and air conditioning.
Dining Experience
The Drake Motel Prince Edward County offered us an exceptional dining experience featuring seasonal menus with farm-to-table ingredients.
The hotel’s restaurant is a picturesque space, with high ceilings, making it an open and welcoming dining experience.
Drake Devonshire Inn menu
I tried the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich served with coleslaw, pickles, and a side of fries.
It was a delightful treat that had the perfect balance and flavor. The wine list was splendid and definitely worth a try, given the region’s reputation for superb wineries.
Cara tried the grilled octopus with chorizo and the roasted cauliflower with raisins and capers.
I asked about the Lake to table dining which included locally caught fish from Lake Ontario.
Inventive Cocktail Program
The Drake Devonshire Inn also boasts an impressive cocktail program featuring some inventive and very unique drinks.
The bartenders are skilled at creating cocktails that perfectly complement the flavor profiles of the food which I thought was very cool.
I highly recommend trying the Paloma, which was made with fresh grapefruit juice and tequila.
The bar has so many options that it made it fun to choose and try different drinks.
