Slake Brewing in Picton Ontario is built high into a limestone hill overlooking Prince Edward County.

This brewery was built on farmland and can be found down 181 Mowbray Rd, Picton.

There is a small sign out front so keep your eyes open for it. When you see it, just follow the road up the hill and around the brewery.

The drive up a limestone hill through winter is a bit treacherous, but it’s not a problem all summer long.

Slake Brewing What You Should Know

The main building as you walk in has a massive window facing west which means you can enjoy the sunsets from inside if you choose.

This Prince Edward County brewery produces a clean, balanced, easy-drinking craft beer. They have a rotating selection so I can’t recommend any one type.

What I can tell you is that all the ales and lagers they make are brewed with 100% Ontario malt.

The best part about this location is the amazing panoramic view that is just stunning at sunset. Bring your camera.

Hands down one of the breweries in Prince Edward County with the most breathtaking stunning panoramic views.

If you can, the best time to go is in the evening just before they close.

When you witness the beautiful sunsets, you’ll be thanking me, I’m sure.

The theme is “Artsy” with lots of bright color artwork making the brewery really nice.

They offer beers on tap, or in cans but also there are some cool artworks for sale also.

My first visit there was the first summer they opened and we were warmly greeted upon entering.

Types of Slake Brewing Beer

The staff gave us a quick overview of all the craft beer available. You just need to give them an idea of what you like, and they will make recommendations.

There were a few good easy drinking ales that I tried. I enjoy table beer that’s clean balanced and easy drinking ales.

Slake Brewing – Tasty

Has a bubblegum, white wine, and candy smell. Low bitterness and dry.

Slake Brewing – Woo Hoo

This Pilsner is made with floor-malted barley. If you are into more of a malt flavor, then this is for you.

Slake Brewing – Mosey

This is a Czech Pilsner It has a light straw and bready flavor with a hint of sweetness that finishes.

Slake Brewing – Hatch

If you like a Pale Ale then you may like this one. It has lots of hop flavor and aroma.

I like lagers and some of these beers were too hoppy for me but my brother-in-law loved it.

Slake Brewing – Beauty

This is a barrel aged beer, that has been refermented in Slake’s barrels with Slake’s house mixed culture for over a year.

The result is a beer that is tart, funky, and complex, with a beautiful amber color. Slake Brewing Beauty was Slake’s very first daughter-recommended beer, and it remains one of their most popular beers to this day.

I have to say that all our beer was ice cold, tasty, and proudly brewed with 100 Ontario malt.

We didn’t eat but they said they have snacks for sale. They also offer some nonalcoholic beverages (seltzer and soda) if you’re the DD.

When we have visitors to the county, this place is my go-to spot for fewer crowds, delicious beer, and amazing views.

Slake brewing has two sized of beers you can buy on tap so if you’re not sure what you like then I’d recommend buying the smaller glass.

This way you can tell which beer best suits you.

Slake Brewing Patio is a great place to host special events in the summer. The patio is spacious and can accommodate a large number of guests.

The staff is friendly and helpful, and they will make sure that your event runs smoothly. Slake Brewing Patio is a great choice for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and any other special events.

The patio can also be rented for private parties and corporate events. In addition to the patio, Slake Brewing Patio also has a stage that can be used for live music or DJ sets.

The stage is perfect for bands, solo artists, and comedians. Slake Brewing Patio is the perfect place to host your next event.

I Would Recommend Slake Brewing

Slake Brewery ticks many of the craft beer boxes for me.

All the attention to detail from the colorful artwork to the sunset experience itself is just amazing for a brewery.

If you get a chance to visit Prince Edward County, then make sure Slake Brewing is on the list.

I’m lucky that I live close so I can hang out for a beer after work or meet some friends here for a quick glass of ice-cold beer.
