There are so many Prince Edward County Wineries all stretched around that it can be hard to plan a route or know where to go next.
Some areas have many wineries very close together so I have put together a self-guided wine tour road map to help make the planning easier. Hope these save you time.
Note there are many other great wineries in Prince Edward County that are not close together with other wineries. These may take a bit more driving to get to visit but they are all worth a trip.
Planning a Wine Tour in Prince Edward County
The first thing you’ll need for a self-guided wine tour is to decide what part of the county to explore. Some areas are very busy so wine tasting can take a while as there can be lineups.
Wine tours are a great way to spend a day, especially if you’re in a beautiful area like Prince Edward County.
Before you head out on your wine tour, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
First, make sure you dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be doing a lot of walking, and you don’t want to end up with blisters.
Second, it’s always a good idea to eat something before you start drinking. Wine can go to your head quickly, and you don’t want to feel sick.
Finally, be prepared to spend some money. Wine tastings typically cost between $1 and $10 per person, and you may end up buying a bottle or two (or more) of your favorite wine. So plan ahead and enjoy your wine tour!
Things you will need for an effective wine tour:
Timing – Most wineries open between 10 am – 11 am. Get an early start to avoid the lines.
Plan your route – Below you find some maps showing wineries that are close together that you can visit without much traveling.
Transportation – When wine tasting you are sure to find wines you’ll like so it’s nice to have a vehicle to put your treasures in. Also, most wineries are not within walking distance.
Small bills or change – Some wineries charge tastings $1 – $10 usually. If you buy wine then they often will not charge for the tastings.
Phone Camera or camera – Social share your experience or just keep some memories for yourself.
Big group reservations – Groups larger than 8 people will not have that great of an experience without a reservation. Wineries like to explain the wine you’re tasting and big groups can be difficult.
Also, there may not be anyone available to take the time it needs to service a big group effectively. Lastly, there may not be enough room for everyone.
Bring extra clothes – Bring a shirt, sweater, or jacket depending on the time of year. Prince Edward County can get really hot in the summer but some days are cool even during the summer.
