Located: 1243 Greer Rd, Prince Edward, ON

In the heart of Wellington, Ontario’s thriving wine community, Rosehall Run is one of the original wineries established here in the county.
With critically acclaimed winemaker Dan Sullivan focusing on producing terroir-driven wines that reflect the unique character of the area, Rosehall Run offers visitors a true taste of Prince Edward County.
I recently had the privilege of visiting the award-winning Rosehall Run, and I was thoroughly impressed by my experience.
From the moment I stepped into the winery, I was greeted by the knowledgeable and friendly staff.
The estate-grown Pinot Noir is particularly noteworthy, and the winery’s focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly practices is commendable.
Let’s take a look at this truly impressive winery!
Let’s start with some of the best value wines.
The Wine List
Keep in mind that they offer more than what I listed here but these were the wines we tasted to spoke about.
Pixie Petite Rosé Spritzer – Refreshing and easy drinking.
Pixie Sparkling Rosé – A sparkling wine with strawberry, grapefruit, and citrus, sweetness.
Loveless – Strawberry, ripe red cherry, searing acidity.
Stardust – Aromas of brioche, toasted almond, and citrus.
Hungry Point Sauvignon Blanc – subtle tropical notes working in tandem with citrus.
Hungry Point Pinot Gris – Notes of stone fruit and apple with pleasingly creamy depth.
Chardonnay MUSQUÉ – Unoaked Chardonnay with light lemon and mineral nose with subtle floral undertones.
Pinot Noir Defiant – Light berry hints of tennis and a long finish.
JCR Pinot Noir – BRONZE – 2021 WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada. If they still have this I’d recommend trying it.
Small Lots Gewürztraminer – very floral, hots of mango, pineapple, and melon with faint notes of matcha and honeycomb.
The Rosehall Run Tasting Room
Rosehall Run’s busy tasting bar provides the ideal setting for tasting the winery’s award-winning selection of wines.
An interactive, customizable flight of Rosehall Run’s wines is available for $20, offering a unique way to experience their range of flavors and aromas.
It’s a great atmosphere and a decent pit stop for some good wines.
The family tasting option is a great way to experience the wines with loved ones and the knowledgeable staff is always on hand to offer guidance and recommendations.
The staff carefully selected a range of their finest wines, including their highly praised Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, for me to try. Each wine was paired with a different food item, and the flavors complemented each other perfectly.
The Pinot Noir was smooth and full-bodied, with notes of cherries and plums, while the Chardonnay was crisp and refreshing, with hints of green apple and citrus.
The Rosehall Run tasting room also provides tasty food pairings that complement their wines to make any visit special.
The Rosehall Run Vineyards and Winery
Rosehall Run vineyards are spread across three distinct sites throughout Prince Edward County.
The first site is located in Wellington; this warm and sheltered location produces some of the county’s best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
The second site is located in Hillier; this cooler climate produces crisp whites such as Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc and bold reds like Cabernet Franc and Syrah.
Finally, the third property called Hungry Point provides ideal conditions for growing Baco Noir, Merlot, and other French-hybrid varieties.
A Picnic Area
In addition to the tasting room, Rosehall Run also has a vineyard picnic area where visitors can relax and enjoy a picnic with friends and family.
The picnic tables are surrounded by lush greenery and the atmosphere is truly peaceful and serene.
The winery itself produces small-batch wines that showcase each of these individual vineyard sites. Whether it’s a bottle of their crisp
White Blush or a bottle of their full-bodied Red Blend, each wine tells a unique story about the land where it was grown.
The Community Involvement
Rosehall Run Vineyards takes great pride in being part of Prince Edward County’s vibrant community.
They are passionate about giving back to their local community through various initiatives such as donating to local charities, sponsoring events such as music festivals or farmers markets, or simply providing space for community gatherings on their property.
They also support environmental causes by using sustainable practices such as composting grape skins and stems for fertilizer or using solar panels to offset energy costs wherever possible.
