This little gem has Canadian and Greek favorites, burgers, kebabs, and the typical greasy spoon breakfast of eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns.
It’s a family diner with cheap prices and great food, and oh boy, did I have an epic time there!
Why We Go To Gus’s Restaurant Picton
If you’re visiting for a morning coffee or lunch there is never any waiting as you can just walk in and sit down.
My girlfriend and I usually go to Gus’s Family Restaurant on a lazy Sunday morning, and it’s never packed!
We always try to snag a seat at the window where we can observe the main st up close.
The aromas coming from the kitchen are tantalizing, and I was already salivating by the time I looked at the menu.
This old-school restaurant has charm and always friendly service.
1. Gus Family Restaurant Food
I can tell you firsthand that the Hot Turkey sandwich is a great meal every time I order it. If you are hungry this will fill you for sure.
Now I usually order the Hot Turkey sandwich but I will mix it up every now and then because the chicken pita with french fries and gravy is amazing too!
I decided to try something different, so I ordered the Greek platter consisting of juicy chicken and pork kebabs served with rice, Greek salad, and tzatziki sauce.
It did not disappoint! The meat was tender, and the flavors were exquisite, and the presentation on the dinner plate was beautiful.
Also, the souvlaki is the greatest. Service, food, and price were the best!
My other go-to is the signature dish the banquet burger. It was massive and meaty, just the way I like it.
With a little bit of lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese, the burger was cooked to perfection!
The bun was soft, lightly toasted, and added a fantastic texture to the dish. The fries were crispy and fresh, golden, and warm, and I could not resist dipping them in the ketchup!
2. The Breakfast
The menu at Gus’s Family Restaurant includes a variety of breakfast options, and I couldn’t pass on that either.
I went with the typical greasy-spoon breakfast of eggs, bacon, and deep-fried hashbrowns, and it was delicious too!
The bacon was crispy and full of flavor, the eggs were cooked just right, and the hashbrowns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
It’s precisely what you’d expect from a good ol’ diner breakfast, and they don’t disappoint here.
3. Gus’s Family Restaurant Staff
The staff at Gus’s Family Restaurant was friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent.
They made me feel right at home, and I could tell that they take pride in what they do.
They were happy to answer my questions about the menu, and prices, and even though I’ve seen it packed, my food comes out quickly and still piping hot.
