Breweries to Eat at Prince Edward County From A Local Perspective
Here is my take on Breweries to Eat at Prince Edward County as I’ve been to most of them.
Beer pairing is becoming a thing these days and drinking a double-hop IPA with a cheeseburger will blow your mind, at least for me.
You will find many breweries offering BBQ or wood fire menus because these flavors can really enhance the taste buds with craft beer.
Even though everyone has different tastes, you’ll find there is something for everyone and it’s fun experimenting along the way.
If you’re coming to Prince Edward County and you’re looking for a brewery to eat at this will help.
This is my Top 3 list of Breweries to eat at in Prince Edward County. I have had great experiences at each.
Midtown Brewery
Located at 266 Wellington Main St, Wellington, ON.
Since they opened we’ve been visiting on a regular schedule. Friendly staff, open concept inside an old factory building, usually quick service, and the food is great.
They have a patio which is nice too but we always sit inside because of the atmosphere.
I can never resist the price of the burger and fries. I know it’s basic but I ask for cheese at an additional cost it all pairs well with their County Kolsch Ale which has a 4.3% ABV and a low 19 IBU.
On our first few visits, I ordered the flights to help determine which beer I like. The waitresses really know the beer.
They now offer wood-fired pizza!
The prices are very reasonable for the county and for a craft brewery in my opinion.
555 Brewery
Located 124 Picton Main St, Picton, ON.
Every Microbrewery has a theme and this one tells the story of some history in Picton. Very cool and when you drop in ask to hear the story!
They have a patio that also has a section that welcomes pets! Nice touch!
I started out pairing the Pretzels with their beer but have since moved on to the Wood Fire Pizza.
Each time we visit I always pair the TOMATO SAUCE + MUSHROOM + PEPPERONI + BACON + MOZZARELLA Pizza with “The Judge” German Helles Lager with an ABV 4.9% IBU 20.
The lower bitterness allows for a better Pizza experience but the flavors complement each other.
I always suggest ordering a flight at any brewery to help determine which beer to enjoy!
I do have to say that most of the beer they offer is great and pairs well with the food.
I had my very first sour beer here! They often do smaller batches and they are always fun to try out!
Parsons Brewing Company
Located at 876 County Rd 49, Picton, ON
Definitely has one of the biggest licensed yards for seating, eating, and outdoor activities.
Also, there is a very large selection of craft beer on tap to choose from so I often order flights to try and find a great pairing with the food.
My pick here is the Summer Siason with an ABV of 5.3% and an IBU of 17 and I find it pairs well with the fried chicken sandwich as it takes some of the burn away from the Jalapenos.
My second favorite here is the “Brown Is The New Black Lager” with an ABV of 5.4% and an IBU of 24. This I pair with “Beef Shawarma” as it compliments the marinated beef flavors.
The Miller House Cafe & Brasserie
Located at 275 County Rd 7, Prince Edward, ON.
The Miller House was built circa 1796 and is the oldest building on Lake on the Mountain. It’s right across the road from lake on the mountain Inn (Another good place to eat) and another really old building.
They offer craft beer from Lake on the Mountain Brewing Company that’s only about 3 min away at the bottom of the mountain.
The beer is the first reason we go here and the second reason is sitting on the patio a sunset eating dinner. Truly amazing!
If you have visited these breweries for lunch or supper let me know in the comments section below.
