What You Can Expect at Huff Estates Winery

The first thing I can say is that visitors to Huff Estates will be pleasantly surprised by the beauty of this vineyard. It has a very modern, upscale vibe.

This is a winery with a bar and lounge and they offer coffee/tea in the common area.

I noticed right away that they have free WiFi in the dining and tasting areas which were nice.  

This winery is also an Inn and conference center an excellent destination for a family vacation or company meeting.

In fact, the company I work for hosted a leadership meeting here and booked rooms for everyone.

There is onsite dining inside and outside plus they sell beer so visitors can enjoy their choice of drink while they eat.

You’ll find that the grounds are also beautiful with flowers in season and gardens.

Also, they host the Oeno Gallery and a sculpture garden that’s worth checking out.

The accommodations are a 21-room inn and winery located in Prince Edward County just outside Picton. The inn is situated on 100 acres of vines and offers stunning views.

Deluxe Rooms

You can choose from a variety of accommodation options, ranging from deluxe rooms that feature two double beds or one king-size bed, a fireplace sitting area, and private garden patio.

Premiere Suites

Then there are the premiere suites that have a king-size bed, separated living & bedroom areas, double-sided fireplace, fridge, and private patio.

The high end of things there is the Wine Makers Suite. It has its own private entrance from the parking area.

For guests looking to explore the area, Huff Estates inn is located just outside of Picton about 5 min away.

Close to shopping in Bloomfield and Picton plus you are not that far from many additional wineries in the area.

Dealer’s Choice – This is where the staff chooses a tasting specific to your tastes.

P.Y.O. – Pick Your Own means you can choose whichever wines you would like to taste.

Rolling Experience Tastings – These are themed tastings that change regularly but may include verticals, single vineyards, specific barrels, etc.

Wine Pairing – You can purchase a cheese pairing for an added $10. Many wineries in Prince Edward County are offering these.

Another option is the barrel seller tastings that can be done privately or as a small group.

Tips For Visiting Huff Estates Winery

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, with a patio for outdoor dining in the summer months. I’ve been to both and they both were a great experience.

The menu features seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and the wine list includes selections that pair well with the wine.

The restaurant has received praise from many of my friends for its beautiful setting, attentive service, and delicious food.

Last time in I ordered the wood fire Pizza, and it was great so I would recommend it.

They were right about the service, which was fun, and our server was great.

I’d suggest doing a tasting in the restaurant first and then ordering food. I’ve done this before and it helped me pair my wine with my dinner.

I would also suggest the romantic dinner spot or a place to enjoy a meal with friends, Huff Estates Restaurant is sure to please.

There are many reasons why people enjoy visiting this winery. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, which makes it easy to learn about the wine-making process and taste different wines without feeling intimidated.

It’s a relaxing atmosphere with beautiful scenery that guarantees a great day out!

Let me explain a bit about the different wines at Huff Estates.

As you know they produce a variety of red and white wines, as well as sparkling wine and ice wine.

I’ve done tastings a few times, but I settle on the Red over the white although my wife loves a few of the whites.

Huffs White Wines

Huff 2021 The Weekender – This is a Pinot Gris that my wife likes the best. It’s perfect for a hot summer day on the deck. Nice light and sweet but not too sweet. The colder the better!

Huff 2021 Buried Vine Pinot Gris – A little sourer than expected which I like personally. I bought a bottle to go and yes…I drank it when I got home.

Huffs 2020 Catharine’s South Bay Chardonnay – Straw yellow in color. Aromas of barrel spice, baked apple, honey, and a hint of butterscotch. There’s a dry-edged honey-scented orchard fruit and lightly toasted notes.

Grown on limestone, some sense a “minerality”. A wine you would enjoy on a patio or back deck.  

Huffs Red Wines

2019 Minimalist Merlot – In my opinion the lightest red wine I tried at Huffs. You’ll sense some dark fruit seconded by hints of fig and licorice.

I tasted a recurring black fruit that really adds depth. They suggest that you drink this red slightly chilled. It’s now my go-to red at Huff’s winery.

2020 South Bay Four Acre Merlot – A nice rich red wine. The nose is greeted with a savory herbal blend of thyme, sage, and bay leaf.

I taste some cherries, plums, and berries. There is certainly a fruit presence.

To conclude my Huff Estates review I would say that if you are planning a trip to Prince Edward county be sure to include a trip to Huff Estates Winery.

It’s a winery you can eat at, stay overnight at and shop for fine art. You will enjoy the experience of tasting award-winning wines, touring the property, and learning more about the history of winemaking in this region.

The beautiful scenery and relaxed atmosphere will make you feel like you’re on vacation. It’s a must-visit destination for wine lovers!
