Why do we go to Sandbank Camping?
Without sounding too dramatic, there are some incredible, breathtaking views, significant history, and hidden secrets combined to create a camping experience.
There is more than just one gorgeous soft sand beach!
I was talking to a family a couple of years back that thought there was only one Sandbanks Provincial Park.
How many campsites are there at Sandbanks?
1. There are over 500 campsites at Sandbanks Provincial Park.
2. The campsites are spread out over four different areas of the park.
- Outlet River Campground
- Cedars Campground
- Woodlands Campground
- Richardson’s Campground
3. The campsites range in size from small sites that can accommodate two tents to large sites that can accommodate up to eight tents.
4. All of the campsites have access to washroom facilities, potable water a picnic area, and a sandy banks beach.
5. Some of the campsites also have electrical hookups for RVs.

How much is it to camp at Sandbanks?
Campsite prices range from $38.70 to $59.33 and vary depending on the type of camping you are looking for.
If you’re looking for a powered site or service camping can expect to pay $43.79-$59.33 per night, while those looking for an unserviced standard tent campsite may pay between $38.70 – $47.46.
Additionally, reservation fees range from $10 – 15 per night.
You should book your spots early, as spaces fill up quickly! So why not make some memories at this incredible park – just remember to check the rates before you go!

Select your desired campsites from the available list, and provide the requested information. Once your reservations are accepted, you’ll then receive a confirmation email.
To ensure that there is availability for all campers, reservations are limited to one week only but can be done up to four months in advance.

Do I need a reservation for Sandbanks beach campsites?
It’s no surprise that the camping sites at the Sandbanks are popular vacation destinations.
Reservations are highly recommended.
Many visitors make reservations up to two months in advance to ensure they get a beautiful campground so it pays off to book early.
For example, the waterfront campsites rent out quickly.
Keep in mind that reservations also come with a fee, so plan your budget accordingly if you want to stay at this amazing beach!
What are the best campsites?
I’ve camped at all 4 campgrounds at the Sandbanks and I can tell you all are nice but there are some sites that are amazing.

Anyone that has ever camped at the Outlet River Campgrounds will tell you the camping sites on the beach side are the best sites.
The sunsets over Lake Ontario from this campground are worth watching!
If you cannot get a site there then going straight across the road still puts you close to the beachside.
I have always found that the park offers you other sites first as these ones are all booked in advance.
What are the 3 beaches at Sandbanks?
There are actually 3 beaches at the Sandbanks for swimming 2 are located next to Lake Ontario and 1 is located on West Lake.

Sandbanks River Country Campground
If you cannot get a campsite at the Sandbanks Provincial Park there is a campground near Sandbanks called the Sandbanks River Country Campground is a great alternative camping experience!
Located close to the Provincial Park in Prince Edward County.
Sandbanks River Country Campground is a friendly camping retreat that offers the next best camping with a wide range of amenities, including fishing, hiking trails, canoe rentals, boating, and horseshoe pits.
As you see there are many activities available and you are still close to the sandy beaches.
Another cool thing is the Sandbanks River Country Campground offers free wireless internet access and seasonal activities like movie nights or live music.
If you’re looking for RV Parks with tent sites and RV sites close to the adventures of the sunny Sandbanks in Prince Edward County, Sandbanks River Country Campground is a great place to consider.
Are there bears at Sandbanks?
There are no bears at the Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County.
Black bears need food (leaves, berries, flowers, and roots), fresh water, shelter, and lots of space like forests, mountains, and tundra.
Prince Edward County does not offer the best habitat for bears and this is why there are none here.
Bears hibernate through the winter and therefore can’t cross the ice to get onto our Island of Prince Edward County.
The only other option for bears to reach PEC would be to cross one of the 4 bridges.
