Where To Go Tent Camping in Prince Edward County

Camping near Picton is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and Prince Edward County is a beautiful place to do it.

There is just over 30 tent campsite available in Prince Edward County. There are exactly 13 that allows tent camping and 17 that allow RV camping. The price for tent camping is between $35 and $60 a night for unserviced sites. Ontario residence seniors and persons with disabilities can see discounts between $10 and $24 a night.

Yes! Picton is a popular spot for camping in Ontario and good reason.

There are many tent campgrounds in the area, as well as RV parks, Glamping, and cabins.

The best camping is always a campsite in Prince Edward County that offers a place to swim, hike and have a campfire.

Popular tent campsites like the Sandbanks Camping, East Shore Campark, Quinte Isle, and Sandbanks River Country Campground are all excellent choices.

The Sandbanks Provincial Park – Cost $52/Night The Best Sites

The Sandbanks has three areas where you can pitch a tent and still be very close to the water.

These sites are very busy and you should book early in the year. If you try to book in the summer you’ll be out of luck as they are usually booked up solid.

Types of Campsites at The Sandbanks

The best tent camping sites offered are what’s called an Outlet A section. These have many types of waterfront campsitey close to the beach.

Outlet B are campsites in the wooded area across the road but still close to the beach.

The Cedars section is farther away and next to the river that joins East Lake to lake Ontario. Still close enough to walk to the Outlet beach but more private.

The Richardson Campgrounds is a mixture of tent camping and trailer camping.

This is the main reason we go to the Richardson side of the park. It’s quiet and has less traffic.

One of the most popular camping spots in the County is the East Shore Campark.

The Park offers a variety of amenities, including laundry facilities, a playground, and a convenience store.

The fishing is exciting and this is the first place I ever caught a Gar Pike.

This is a fun campground and the people are nice.

There always seems to be something going on.

East Shore Campark often has events going on throughout the summer making it a perfect spot for your next tent camping vacation.


Sandbanks River Country Campground – Cost $70/Night

The West lake section of Prince Edward County is a beautiful area to explore, and the Sandbanks River Country Campground is the perfect place to set up basecamp.

The campground offers a variety of amenities to make your stay comfortable, including flush toilets, showers, and a dump station.

There are also fire pits and picnic tables available on each site.

Plus, the campground offers direct access to the Sandbanks Provincial Park, which includes miles of hiking trails and sandy beaches.

Twice a week they have a Movie under the Stars on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Sit on your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy movies on their big screen!

Whether you’re looking to relax or explore, the Sandbanks River Country Campground has everything you need.


Quinte Isle Campark- Cost $55/Night

Quinte’s Isle Campark is a beautiful campground located in Cherry Valley, ON.

The campground is right on Lake Ontario and offers a variety of camping options, including tent camping, RV camping, and group camping.

Quinte’s Isle Campark is also pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along for the fun!

The campground is open year-round, and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy no matter what time of year you visit.

In the summer, you can swim in the sparkling waters of Lake Ontario or go for a hike in the nearby Picton woods.

In the winter, you can go ice fishing or go for a leisurely walk along the frozen shoreline.

Quinte’s Isle Campark has two pooland s is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors!


County Shores Campground – Cost $50/Night

The County Shores Campground offers a variety of amenities to make your stay comfortable.

The campground is located on the shores of west lake, and it offers RV hookups, tent sites, and cabins for rent.

There are also several activities to enjoy at the campground, including swimming, fishing, and hiking.

Fishing is some of the best in Prince Edward County if you’re looking to catch Walleye!

The campground also has a playground, a laundry facility, and a store.


Accommodating Bay – Cost $46/Night

Located at R.R. #2, 505 Morrison Pt Rd, Milford, Ontario – Visit Their Website.

The county is home to many small towns and villages, as well aseveralof beaches, parks, and other attractions.

Milford area and Black creek are very popular tourist destinations in Prince Edward County.

This is where you’ll find the Accommodating Bay Campground.

The campground is situated on the bay, looking toward Waupoos Island which offers stunning views of Lake Ontario.

It also offers a range of amenities, including a swimming beach, a fishing pier, and a playground for children.

The Bass fishing is great but look out for water snakes!

If you want tent camping deep in the county with some amazing fishing this is the perfect place to stay for those who want to enjoy all that Prince Edward County has to offer.


Edge Water Trailer Park – Cost $46/Night

The Edge Water Trailer Park is a great place to stay if you’re looking for tent camping and a sandy beach.

With around 40 tent campsites I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll like. The park offers a variety of amenities, including events, playgrounds, and laundry facilities.

The park is located just minutes from downtown Picton, making it a convenient base for exploring all that the county has to offer.

There are also Laundry Facilities, Washrooms, and Hot Showers onsite.

This resort has been here in Prince Edward County for as long as I can remember.


The Sandbanks Cottages and Campsites – Cost $60/Night

This campground has 30 campsites and non-electric campsites for tents.

West Lake is a beautiful area of the county and a very popular camping area in the heart of Ontario.

The Sandbanks Cottages and Campsites are situated on the West Lake, and they offer a variety of amenities if you decide to camp there.

These include private sites, shaded sites, picnic tables a firep,it and enough room for one vehicle.

There is space for children to play on the sand beach.

When we were there we got a volleyball game going with a crew from Toronto.

The campsites are roomy and very quiet at night. As a result, guests can enjoy all that West Lake has to offer without going to the busy Sandbanks Provincial park.


Hideaway Trailer Park – Cost $53/ Night

The Hideaway Trailer Park has been here in the county for a very long time.

In High School, this was the place to camp overnight in tents and fish for Bass.

Camping in groups is permitted at a much cheaper rate, the cost is only $25 so it’s better to bring friends.

Group camping has its section of the park.

It’s nestled in a quiet cove on West lake, and it offers tons of amenities to make your stay more comfortable.

For tent campers, there are sites with water and electricity hookups but these rates are a bit higher at around $62,

The communal fire pit, volleyball, pool, and picnic tables are all included.

There is also a laundromat on-site and hot showers are included.

They also have a small store in the campgrounds offering firewood, ice, water, etc.

We’ve had many of great times here in my youth so I’d have to recommend Hideaway Trailer Park campsites for tent camping.


Wellers Bay Campground – Cost $40/Night

Wellers Bay Campground in Carrying Place is a great option for those looking to enjoy tent camping.

The campground offers tent camping, and there are also several amenities on-site, including a picnic area, a playground, and laundry facilities.

This is a great fishing destination and if you have a boat you can find your private area on a sandy beach for swimming.

If you don’t have a boat you can rent one. The campground is located just minutes from the beach, and there are also many hiking trails nearby.

As a bonus, Wellers Bay Campground is pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along for the fun.


Ray’s Cottages – Cost $60/Night

Ray’s Cottages Campground offers tent camping for those who want to enjoy the outdoors without all the conveniences of home.

The campgrounds are located right on West Lake and offer a variety of amenities to make your stay more comfortable.

You will find fire pits, picnic tables, and clean bathrooms on site.

The campground has a sandy beach area and a boat launch.

They are one of just a few places in Prince Edward County that offer Glamping.


Camp Barcovan Tent & R.V. Resort – Cost $40/Night

Camp Barcovan Tent & R.V. Resort in carrying Place offers tent camping sites.

The resort is open from May to October and is situated on the banks of Stoneburg Cove just outside of Carrying Place.

The actual campsite is located across a small river, still close enough to everything but with more privacy and away from the action.

They offer a large variety of amenities, including a heated outdoor pool, laundry facilities, and a playground for children.

Camp Barcovan has plenty of activities including volleyball and horseshoe pits to keep everyone entertained.

Tent camping with a little adventure, there are bike and canoe rentals available, as well as hiking and biking trails nearby.

Campers can also take advantage of the resort’s fishing dock, where you can catch bass and perch.

I rented a boat and fished for pickerel after camping out all day on a section of the private beach we found.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet getaway or an action-packed camping trip, Camp Barcovan is a very cool place to stay.


Cedardale Camping & Seasonal Resort – Cost $40/Night

Low-key tent camping with a sandy beach & an outdoor pool which is very cool.

Cedardale Camping & Seasonal Resort is the perfect place to enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The resort offers tent camping in Carrying Place, and it is just a short drive from many of the wineries in the Hillier and Wellington area.

Carrying Place is a small town worth exploring because it has many different things to offer.

Cedardale Camping has many activities to enjoy onsite that include hiking, biking, fishing, and swimming. This campsite also offers a variety of amenities for you to enjoy, including a heated pool, a playground, and a laundry facility.

Whether you are looking for a quiet getaway or an active vacation, Cedardale Camping & Seasonal Resort is the perfect place for you.


Sunset Shores Campground – Cost $45/Night

Sunset Shores Campground is a small family camping opportunity in Prince Edward County.

Located in Cherry Valley, the campground offers tent camping close to the water. The beach is rocky so I’d suggest water shoes.

Located not far from the popular Sandbanks Park so you can enjoy that beach and come back.

It’s quiet if you want to relax in the sun or drive to Picton and explore the shops and restaurants in town.

Although I’ve been there I have never stayed overnight. They are located on East Lake and the fishing is awesome. I’ve fished here many times and you can expect to catch Bass and Pike.


Prince Edward County camping is a great way to get away from it all and enjoy nature. If you haven’t been, be sure to add it to your list of places to visit.
